SPRING IN BRIGHT
Garden and festival time.
Experience a tapestry of colour in Spring. Spend days relaxing amongst sunny local gardens, planted with brightly coloured spring bulbs and flowers shaded by age-old elm trees. Explore the high plains, where you’ll find carpets of alpine wildflowers, mountain streams, native birds and other fauna.
Nearby, there are extensive walking tracks, bike trails and picnic grounds, set amidst snow-melt streams and waterfalls. Try trout fishing or take a tour of the local wineries. For fine dining, check out the local cafés and restaurants.
Twilight brings out the native wildlife in Bright. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself meeting up with friendly kangaroos and possums.
Fun filled days.
Bright is the ideal summer holiday destination for families, with activities to suit all ages and budgets.
Families with young children will enjoy the fun and safety of the adventure playground, water slide, music sound shell, markets, bush-walking, and mountain bike riding together along safe bike trails.
Teenagers and adults will love river swimming, fishing, and adventure sports including hang gliding, paragliding, caving and abseiling, also trail riding through the surrounding hills on mountain bikes, motor bikes or horseback.
Summer is the time for al fresco dining. There are extensive barbecue and picnic grounds, nut orchards, breweries, wineries and cafés to explore.
Festival time
Bright is never more beautiful than it is in autumn. Golden elms line Cobden Street, and can be viewed in all their glory through the north-facing lounge room window of Art Deco style Eugenie Cottage.
Take a walk through groves of chestnuts, poplars, maples and liquid ambers. In autumn, these come out in a stunning display of gold, orange and red. Days are typically mild and sunny, followed by crisp, clear nights best spent in front of the fire.
There’s always plenty to do. Check out the Autumn Festival Gala Parade, with market stalls and music, breweries, wineries and events at the local nut and fruit orchards.
Gateway to the Snowfields
A great base for your next Snow Skiing holiday, Bright is perfectly situated for fun in the snow:
55 km from Mt Hotham, 60 km from Falls Creek and just 35 km from Mt Buffalo.
Relax in Bright for a day off from skiing, sit by the fire, enjoy a good book, walk in the sunshine beside the river, cycle along the bike trail, or have a barbecue.
Enjoy wine and fine dining, cafés and all the local attractions. It is two holidays in one. With clear blue skies, sunshine and starry nights all year round, Bright is the perfect winter location.
WEATHER FOR NORTH EASTERN VICTORIA
The inland climate of north east Victoria has hot summer days with cool temperatures at night. In winter, bright sunny days follow crisp, white frosty mornings. Rainfall can be very localized in the valleys, falling as snow in winter on the alps. Generally, there is very little wind and the climate is more consistent and stable than in southern Victoria.
Temperatures in the High Country mountains surrounding Bright can be up to ten degrees cooler than in the valleys below. Many of the weather fronts that bring change to Victoria, do not reach north over the Great Divide, resulting in a consistent and stable climate with a high number of bright sunny days throughout the year.
